Reflections of Life
“There are many things in life that we cannot understand, but we must trust God and be guided by His hand. To everything there is a season and time to every purpose under the heaven”
A Time To Be Born: Derryl Buckles was born September 17, 1962 in Houston County, Georgia to the parentage of Annie Mae Buckles and the late Arthur Gene Buckles.
A Time To Plant: Derryl spent most of his life in Perry where he was also educated. He believed in God and had a love for gospel music in which his favorite artists were Lee Williams and the Spiritual QCs and The Canton Spirituals.
A Time To Build: After graduating from Perry High in 1981, Derryl spent 8 years in the United States Army as an Armor Crewman. He also worked for the Houston County Water Department for 12 years as well as at RAFB. Anyone that knew Derryl, knew that he was a jack of all trades, and he took pride in his work.
A Time To Love: The joys of his life were his family and friends, especially his grandson, Jacob, whom he affectionally called “Stick” and his niece, Courtney, whom he affectionately called “Beave”.
A Time Of Peace: As he was quietly called home to rest on the morning of March 6, the legacy of Derryl’s life was left with his Mother: Annie Mae Buckles of Perry, GA; Daughter and grandson: Gia & Jacob Buckles of Warner Robins, GA; Sister: Angela Buckles-Cherry (Johnny) of Perry, GA; Brother: Roderick Hill of Perry, GA; Aunts: Ruby Williams and Mamie Williams of Warner Robins, GA, Fannie Hyter of Alabama, Marva Hardnett and Lillian Black of Perry, GA; Uncles: Ernest (Mildred) Roquemore of Ft.
