Pearline Kendrick Washington

August 4, 1934 ~ March 9, 2018 (age 83)

"I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth." (psalm 121:1-2)

Throughout our lifetime, many will ponder the question, “Who can define greatness?” Can greatness be measured in something we have done? Or can this amazing attribute be passed on from generation to generation? In our lifetime, we have witnessed greatness transcend the life of an amazing woman, Pearline Washington, who has impacted many lives: family members, friends, and strangers you will never know.

Pearline Washington was born on August 4, 1934 in Houston County to the late parents, Nellie Worthy and Samuel Lee Kendrick.  At a young age, she made a life decision by accepting Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.    Pearline attended Davis Chapel AME where she served faithfully until her death.   Pearline was a mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many during her lifetime.

Pearline was always the “life of the party”.  She loved having fun with her family and friends; dancing; music; going on cruises, traveling with family; going to bingo, and fishing. She was mostly known for her expertise in cooking especially her collard greens and sweet potato pies. She believed that showing God’s love with her divine gift would reach so many lives.  Most importantly, Pearline had a God size personality that allowed her to love beyond her arm’s length, caring for others, and helping her fellow man.

On Friday, March 9, 2018, Pearline Washington received a heavenly call where she was promoted to Glory to be with the Lord. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Gloria Ann Scott; son, Earl Washington; Mother, Nellie Worthy; Father, Samuel Lee Kendrick; Sisters, Louise Oglesby (Harvey); Frances K. Scott (Willie Henrey); Brothers, Arthur Worthy and Willie Lee Kendrick Sr.

Cherishing her memory and legacy are her: children, 4 Sons, John Washington Jr., Byron, GA, Michael Washington, and Kenneth Lee Washington of Perry, GA, Stanley Washington, Greensboro, NC; 2 Daughters, Sandra Holsey, Warner Robins, GA, Jerry Dean Dickerson (Ralph), Greensboro, NC; 1 Daughter in Law, Katherene Washington; 19 Grandchildren; 22 Great Grandchildren; 1 Great Great Grandchild; Three Brothers, Ray Kendrick (Susie), and Mitchell Worthy Sr. (Della) of Perry, GA, Butler Kendrick (Retha), Hinesville, GA; 1 Sister in Law, Rosa Kendrick, Perry, GA, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
