Laura Bell Lane was born November 21, 1936 in Dooly County, Georgia to the late Carrie Lane Wood. She was educated in Houston County as well as a lifelong resident. She worked many years in the textile industry at Kellwood and Trend Line in Perry, Georgia. At an early age she joined the Spring Chapel Missionary Baptist Church of Kathleen, Georgia where she served faithfully on the Usher Board, Mission Board and Mother Board.
Laura was known to many as being a kind, caring, loving and affectionate person. She had a love for doing crossword puzzles, her family and playing cards. A family tradition of hers was to give each toddler their first taste of Coca-Cola.
On, Tuesday, August 13th Laura departed this earthly home surrounded by her six loving sons, family and friends at Houston Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her mother Carrie Wood, James Lane and Mary Haywood.
She leaves to cherish her memory: 6 devoted sons: William Lane of Grovania, Ga., Leslie (Sandra) Lane of Macon, Ga., Tracy (Phyllis) Lane of Grovania, Ga., Dennis (Jackie) Lane of Bonaire, Ga., Terence (Mae Ola) Lane of Birmingham, Ala., and Alex (Patricia) Lane of Warner Robins, Ga. She is also survived by two sisters Charlie Mae (Theodis) Brown and Annie (Billy) Heard all of Bonaire, Ga., a host of grandkids, great-grands, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
