Biography

Fort Valley-David L. Canady, departed this life on Friday, October 16, 2009 after an extended illness.Funeral services will be Wednesday, october 21,2009 at 11:00 a.m. in Bobby Glover Mortuary chapel. Burial in Willow Lake Cemetery, Fort Valley, Georgia. He was born in Peach County, Georgia on November 15, 1936 to the parents of the late Charlie and Mamie Canady. He was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.He was educated in the Peach County School System and graduated from Fort Valley State College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. He also attended Troy State University in Troy, Alabama, receiving a Master's Degree in Education. He was a respected educator having taught Chemistry, Biology and Physics in several school systems. He retired from the Talbot County school system in 1982 after teaching for over 20 years.
His wit and humor will be missed. He often told jokes and riddles to his family and friends. His memory will forever be cherished by his four daughters:Wilma(Matt) Byrd of Atlanta, Ga.; Shirley Canady of Warner Robins, Ga.,Cynthia(Ray) Neal ; Attorney Pamela Richardson all of Warner Robins, Georgia; one brother, Johnny B. Canady of Macon, Georgia; two sisters-in-law; Rena Postell Canady of Franklin, Georgia; Eight grandchildren: Shameka(Derrick) Watts; Ray Neal Jr.;Sharina Richardson; Khourtnea Byrd; Bryan Byrd; Brittany Neal; Gia' Ellis and Keyunna Byrd;Two great-grands; Kyla and Jada Watts, A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Visitation from 6:00-8:00 On Tuesday in Glover Mortuary Chapel.
