Clarence Whittaker, Jr was born on August 8, 1955 in Houston County, Georgia to the parentage of the late Mr. Willie C. Whittaker and Mrs. Hattie Dora (Stripling) Whittaker.  He peacefully departed this life on April 9, 2017 at the Augusta VA Medical Center, Augusta, GA. At an early age Clarence joined the Haynesville Missionary Baptist Church but moved away for a period of time.  Later in life he returned and actively and faithfully served on the Usher Board.  Even though he moved away, he frequently returned home to visit his church family. 


Clarence received his early childhood education in the Houston and Dooly County School Systems and graduated in 1973. After graduating from high school, he entered the United States Army on June 11, 1973.  During his military career, he received formal training and certification as a dental hygienist and a paratrooper.  He served his country both stateside and abroad.  He even served at the United States Military Academy in West Point, NY and was in the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, Fayetteville, NC. He was honorably discharged from the U. S. Army on July 29, 1985 while stationed in Zweibrucken, Germany. After his military career, he was self-employed as a carpenter until he became disabled.

 
 Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, Willie C. and Hattie (Chunk) Whittaker.


He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Tijuanata Whittaker, a devoted and loving daughter, Valerie Adkinson Payne (Kenya) of Kathleen, GA;  his son – Patrick Taylor of Unadilla, GA; five (5) grandchildren – Garrett Harrell, Jr of Unadilla, GA,   Ja’heem Lucas of Pinehurst, GA, Kenya Payne, Jr and Kevin Payne both of Fort Worth Texas, and Jazmine Payne of Denton, Texas;  one (1) great-grandson – Khamari Harrell;  a sister – Willie Mae Chaney of Vienna, GA; a niece – Lisa Chaney Crocker (Kirkland) of Hinesville, GA; a nephew – Oscar E. Chaney; of Atlanta, GA; a great-niece – Kelis Alexandria Crocker of Hinesville, GA;  an aunt – Fannie Lumpkin of Unadilla, GA;  special and devoted cousins and friends – Rita & Jimmy Walker of Unadilla, GA, Leroy & Wilhelmina Smith of Augusta, GA,  Ricky Smith of Unadilla, GA , Margurite and Truman Duhart of Warner Robins, GA, Carl & Mildred Chaney of  Warner Robins, GA, and Harry Kirk of Augusta, GA.  A host of other cousins, relatives and friends.
