Lillie Mae Johnson known to many as “Ma Lillie” and “Grand Lillie” was born to the late Forest and Minnie Whitfield on July 27, 1929. Lillie Mae received her primary education in the schools of Houston County, Georgia.
She gave her life to Christ at an early age and joined the Mount Zion C.M.E. Church. Later in life she joined the Free Providence Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor David McLeod, Sr. She was an active and dedicated member until her health failed but always said, “It’s just me and the Lawd”. She retired from the Cross Road and Red Carpet Inn of Perry, Georgia.
Lillie was married to the late Rayfield Johnson. This union was blessed with ten children. She raised as her own Forest Johnson, John Davis, Vontae Johnson and Adrion Johnson (who preceded her in death). She was also preceded in death by two of her children, her parents, brothers Sammie Whitfield, and Richard Davis, and sisters Pauline Whitfield And Ruby Hugley.
On Friday, October 13, 2017, she packed up and departed from this place, leaving to cherish her memory, her children Johnny Ray (Patricia) Johnson, Lillie Bell (Shep) Bass, Johnny B. (Kisha) Johnson, Bruce (Cassandra) Johnson, Marie Alice (Roger) Waters, Minnie (Eddie B.) Carswell, Dianne (Tracy) Clemmons Bobby Johnson, Hattie Johnson, Ruby (Monroe) Simmons; sister Mary Kendricks; brother Willie (Barbara) Davis; sister in-law Mary Dean; brother-in-law Hamp Whitfield; 21 grandchildren; 38 great grands; special friends Willie Colbert, Lavada Napier; Beck, Leon, and Maylee Askew, Rosemary Sandford; a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
