Joseph William Adkison

January 16, 1946 ~ March 12, 2018 (age 72)

"I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth." (psalm 121:1-2)

Joseph William Adkison was born January 16, 1946 to the late Mr. Andrew Jackson and Mrs. Mary Lou Johnson Adkison of Henderson, Georgia. 

Joseph was baptized at Shiloh Baptist Church of Henderson at an early age. Later joining Temple of Miracle Fellowship in Perry, GA and New Hope in Warner Robins, GA.  He stepped out to be saved and turned his life over to God in 2016 at Roberta Church of God in Roberta , GA .

Joseph graduated from Houston County Training School in 1966.  He loved to spearhead the class reunions so that his classmates could continue their fellowship with each other. He was on the HCTS Scholarship Committee and the number one ticket salesman for their Annual HCTS Alumni School Dance.

Joseph retired in 1992 from Robins Air Force Base after 25 years of dedicated service as an aircraft painter.  Upon his retirement, he worked as a Detail Paint Specialist until  his health declined. He earned Annual Salesman of the year  during his employment at United Nissan and Nissan South in Atlanta, GA and Jeff Smith Nissan in Kathleen, GA and Tampa, Fla. 

Joseph was passionate about calling family members from state to state encouraging them to come together for annual family reunions.
Joseph was an entrepreneur of Disco Village in Perry, GA.  Alcohol Lounge in Warner Robins, GA,  and Illusions and JD's Touch of Class in Macon, GA.  He coached the Disco Village Booty Kickers of Perry, GA along with several     Houston County Recreation Department Teams.  He also played for the Perry Athletes of Perry, GA.

Joseph was proceeded in death by two sisters Ruth Adkison and Jacquline Adkison Jones and two grandchildren Joseph Chevalier Adkison and Monica LaShundra Adkison.

He leaves to cherish his memories; three daughters Varncheria (Antonio) Napier,  of Perry, GA, Larzarnia Adkison of Warner Robins, GA and Kia (Amerg) Boyd, of Griffin; two sons Eric (Tracy) Adkison of Lithonia, GA, and Jared Adkison of Bonaire, GA; Siblings: Ira Alford of Warner Robins, GA, Mattie Lester of Jonesboro, GA, Andrew (Evelyn) Adkison of Decatur, GA, Annie Eva Alford of Perry, GA, Ruby Dennis of McDonald, GA, Gwen (Van) Cheatman of Bonaire, GA, Shirley Jackson of Stockbridge, GA, Tracey (Diane) Adkison of Rex, GA. 9 grandchildren: Johnnie, Austin, Jaron, LaShae, Brandon, Jalen, Kennedy, Jordan; 6 great grand : Kymani, Brailyn, Dylan, Tyler, Morgan and Bella. Devoted healthcare providers-Larzamia, Varncheria,Gwen, Johnnie, Austin, Darius, Patricia Everett, Onessia Everett, Cameron Coley, Kaprisha Barrett; very devoted friends-Barbara Irby and Clarence Copeland.
